Griffith University

Griffith is apparently a really well known school around the world. When I told Jane and one other Chinese student that I would be studying Hospitality they told me that it is famous for this course. Many students in China come here specifically for it. Griffith itself is one of the top five universities in Australia and is linked to the group of school that includes Harvard University in the USA. Continue reading

Surfing Bondi Beach

For the last two weeks that I was in Sydney, Brett and I had been keeping our eye on costalwatch.com.au for the latest updates on what the surf would be like. Brett had told me that he would teach me to surf, but only in the right conditions. Many people fail to learn how to surf or even get up on one wave due to the surf its self. Apparently there is a lot to look for when you want to surf. Silly me, I thought you just paddle out, catch a wave, and stand up… Not exactly… On our last day the waves were finally small enough after the large storm for me to even attempt to surf. It still wasn’t perfect but with only one day left I had to give it a shot.  I never knew how much waiting around surfing entailed. It is not a fast pace sport. You can spend an hour waiting for the right wave to catch. Thank goodness Brett was there to give me a push on the perfect waves. These pictures are the pictures April got.

Manly Beach

Manly is beautiful, but you have probably already heard that. In Sydney, Manly is a common conversation piece. The tide was so high today that it had covered almost all of the sand on the beach. I’ve been over to Manly a few times but today I decided to take a walk around the city. There are many little shops and a board walk that goes over to Shelly Beach. Shelly Beach is a beautiful, less crowded, gem.
